Like a pesky slider from a left-hander, former San Diego Padres outfielder Brian Giles has had difficulty making contact with a potential buyer for his San Diego mansion.

Giles, who was a lefty slugger, continues his quest to sell his home. Currently, the posh place is listed for $6,195,000. Jason Barry of Barry Estates is representing the listing. Giles originally listed the property in 2014 for $6,995,000.

The price represents a loss for the retired Major League Baseball pro. The 46-year-old paid $7.9 million for the Mediterranean-style mansion in 2006.

We can, however, see plenty of appeal in this SoCal spot. Occupying nearly 12,000 square feet on a secluded cul-de-sac, the estate has five-bedrooms with five full and two half-bathrooms in the main home, plus a detached guesthouse.

Featuring crown molding, hardwood finishes, and stone flooring, the main home also has a home theater, game room, wine cellar, and chef’s kitchen.

The home affords expansive views of the Polo Fields, Fairbanks Ranch Golf Course, and the Eastern Mountains. Outdoors there’s a covered patio with a kitchen, fire pit, and pool with waterfall.

A Southern California native, Giles broke into the majors with the Cleveland Indians before enjoying his first real success as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he made a pair of All-Star teams.

Giles retired in 2010 with 287 home runs and over 1,000 runs batted in to his credit. Can he finally hit this home sale out of the park?
