$110M Beverly Hills Estate With Royal Ties Tops the Week’s Most Popular Homes

0M Beverly Hills Estate With Royal Ties Tops the Week’s Most Popular Homes

realtor.com

Talk about an overachiever. This week’s most popular property on realtor.com® was also last week’s most expensive new listing. The astounding Beverly Hills, CA, estate with the astronomic $110 million price tag is fit for a king—or, at the very least, a prince.

The deluxe villa on 14 acres belonged to Saudi Prince Saud al-Faisal, who died in 2015, and his wife, Princess Johara bint Faisal.

With its starry price, locale, and regal ties, it’s easy to see why the mansion attracted so many clicks. And while that asking price may be a heavy lift, it’s actually a reduction from the $145 million tag when it was quietly being shopped around last year.

This week’s runner-up offers a dramatic contrast. Purchased from the Sears Roebuck catalog nearly a century ago, the well-kept vintage home in Tennessee is only $124,900. Or, roughly, a wee fraction of this week’s chart topper.

Other homes drawing clicks this week include a Texas megamansion with water park that’s been in search of a buyer for two years, a “Fixer Upper” alumnus having trouble finding a buyer, and a wild ’70s time capsule home in Des Moines with wallpaper to die for.

While we ponder how to properly preserve vintage wallpaper, we ask you to scroll down to see all of this week’s most popular properties.

10. 10711 Strait Ln, Dallas, TX

Price: $23,950,000
Why it’s here: We’ve heard of Paris in Texas, but how about Versailles in Dallas? This French-style estate was built in 2003, but has an old-world aesthetic and opulence. The 37,000-square-foot mansion, which has been the subject of local controversy, originally landed on the market in 2016 for $32 million. Now nearly $10 million cheaper, the mansion with its own water park drew quite a few clicks this week.

8. 330 Santa Fe Dr, Woodway, TX

Price: $260,000
Why it’s here: It’s a “Fixer Upper” riddle! The “Plain Gray Home” renovated on Season 4 of the popular HGTV show has all the requisite Joanna Gaines–style perks. Yet it was listed at bargain price, then had a few price cuts—and still won’t sell! It’s only a matter of time before a buyer steps up to capitalize on the Gaines effect. Right?

7. 4610 Wakonda Pkwy, Des Moines, IA

Price: $190,000
Why it’s here: This Iowa time capsule from 1971 features eye-popping interiors. We’re guessing the place hasn’t been updated since it was built, as it includes an orange and brown kitchen with avocado green appliances, turquoise-blue carpet throughout, and brightly hued daisy-patterned wallpaper in the bathrooms. The four-bedroom home is priced $30,000 under assessed value, which leaves room to budget in a few updates. The price was clearly on target—it’s already pending sale.

5. 721 Henry Clay Ave, New Orleans, LA

Price: $995,000
Why it’s here: This awesome double shotgun from the early 1900s is done up in a Victorian style. Although it’s too late to entertain in this classic space for this year’s Mardi Gras, a savvy buyer will be in a sweet spot to let the good times roll in 2019.

4. 2184 Mandeville Canyon Rd, Los Angeles, CA

Why it’s here: It’s easy to love this ultraprivate, ultramodern mansion. A two-story entrance leads to a living and dining space with a fireplace. The seven-bedroom home also includes a huge kitchen with dual islands, an attached guesthouse, home theater, and wine room. Retractable pocket doors open fully to the outdoors, where there’s a large deck, kitchen, and pool.

3. 32 Stitt St, Wabash, IN

Price: $41,772
Why it’s here: Built in 1910, this house retains many of its original features, including a built-in curved bench, fireplace, and hardwood floors. The interiors require a fair amount of work, but for the low, low asking price, a worthwhile remodel should be in your budget.

2. 4525 Highway 70 N, Eidson, TN

Price: $124,900
Why it’s here: Step back in time with a Sears Roebuck catalog home sitting on 10 wooded acres. This historic Victorian was most recently an antiques shop and was featured in Country Living magazine. It features a classic layout with a large dining room, drawing room, farmhouse kitchen, and office. The property comes with outbuildings, a wraparound porch, and a waterfall.

1. 9434 Cherokee Ln, Beverly Hills, CA

Price: $110 million
Why it’s here: The pricey mansion known as the Mountaintop Estate popped up as last week’s most expensive listing. The villa is baaaack, this time as the most popular property in the country. It comes with a winding driveway with ocean views, and sits on 14 acres. The property has royal ties, since it was owned by the late Saudi Prince Saud al-Faisal, and his wife, Princess Johara bint Faisal. The 10-bedroom mansion features an entry with retractable roof, tennis court, two-story guesthouse, and staff quarters.
