Move over, Randy Johnson! Arizona’s most expensive home is now $26 million contemporary mansion in Scottsdale.

Built in 2004, this mansion now features more contemporary leanings than the surrounding Mediterranean-influenced mansions in the gated community of Silverleaf.

The homeowner took great care in marrying the home’s original Mediterranean style with modern touches, says listing agent Deborah Beardsley.

Toronto-based architect Wayne Swadron and local builder Salcito Custom Homes completely renovated the home, an extensive project which finished this year.

“It’s basically a brand-new house,” says Beardsley. The home is exquisite throughout, but its city and mountain views truly make it a one of a kind, she adds.

Situated on two lots measuring 4 acres, the 14,000-square-foot home has nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. From the light fixtures and finishings to the incredible wine room, this home was designed for rest and relaxation in high style.

Tucked in the McDowell Mountain range, the sprawling property isn’t simply an aesthetic gem with a smart mix of design and materials. It’s a testament to luxury in the desert.

And the renovations are done—which is a big plus in the luxury market. Agent Frank Aazami, who holds the listing for Arizona’s second-most expensive home, an $18 million Paradise Valley mansion, says he’s seeing high-end buyers shy away from brand-new construction and extensive remodel projects.

According to Aazami, the time and effort it takes to build something new makes a newly remodeled property more attractive to high-end buyers. Perhaps this mansion won’t hold the title of the state’s most expensive home for too long—a buyer may quickly snap up this luxurious oasis in the desert.
