Deep in His Real Estate Feelings, Drake Reportedly Buys Third Home in Hidden Hills

Drake is unstoppable. The chart-topping rapper is currently on tour, executive produced a movie, and still makes time to expand his real estate empire.

The megastar has purchased another home in the guard-gated community of Hidden Hills, to add to his California compound, Variety reported.

The $4.5 million off-market deal for a three-bedroom abode adds a third property to his portfolio in this quiet cul-de-sac. His SoCal spread now totals a whopping 6.7 acres.

His newest purchase is a little rustic and seems to have been available as a rental in the past. It was touted to potential tenants as being adjacent to a “Grammy Award winner.”

That Grammy winner must like projects (or teardowns!). This home needs a major refresh to compete with the performer’s other spreads.

The home was owned by a family who raised their children there, which may explain its lack of swanky amenities. Its chief assets are easy walkability to the Hidden Hills Community Center pool and tennis courts, as well as a woodsy outdoor play area.

Built in 1957, the 2,449-square-foot brick home offers vaulted and beamed ceilings, lots of exposed brick, a galley-style kitchen, and a living room with a built-in fireplace and seating, along with a hot tub outside.

The 2.21 acres includes an “idyllic, parklike setting” with mature shady pine, sycamore, pomegranate, citrus, and California pepper trees, in a private location at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Drake (given name Aubrey Drake Graham) may have decided that the serene surroundings would work well with his other properties and made an offer the owners couldn’t refuse.

The purchase completes a trifecta of homes Drake has been buying up in the neighborhood. Drizzy initially made headlines in 2012 with the purchase of a party pad complete with an insane pool and grotto for $7.7 million.

The previous owners completely redid the estate, including the “multi-million dollar pool” with cascading waterfalls, and 80-foot slide. The 7,500-square-foot mansion includes seven beds and nine baths on almost 3 acres. Interior amenities include a 24-seat theater, game room, spa and massage room, hot tub with flat-screen TV, and wine cellar.

The property, which Drake apparently dubbed the “YOLO Estate,” also includes horse facilities with a riding area, a sand volleyball court, a mechanical bull, and tennis courts.

Three years later, the musician snagged the home next door, a 4,445-square-foot ranch house for $2.85 million on a neighboring 1.6-acre lot. The four-bed, five-bath home had been renovated and contains high ceilings, multiple fireplaces, and a gourmet kitchen. The outdoor space includes an oval pool, poolhouse, and guesthouse, along with fenced pastures.

But Drake’s not one to sit by his grotto and relax. TMZ reported he’s embarked on a major renovation of YOLO Estate, including a new roof, 68 new windows, new doors, plus a remodel of the kitchen and master bath.

The multitalented megastar hasn’t forgotten his roots. When not in California, Champagne Papi has another home building project underway in Toronto. An entity associated with the rapper purchased the Canadian place in 2015 for $6.7 million.

Although there was already a mansion on the two-acre lot, the 31-year-old chose instead to build a new one, which he recently showcased on social media. The Canadian castle will reportedly include 21,000 square feet, and offer such luxuries as an indoor basketball court, gym, pool, and a hot tub equipped with a large TV screen.

Don’t worry about the superstar’s spending spree. He can afford it. According to Forbes, the artist raked in $94 million in 2017 alone. YOLO, indeed.
