Former Detroit Lions star wideout Calvin Johnson has listed his contemporary estate just outside of Atlanta for $2.1 million.
The 8,000-square-foot home sits on 3 wooded acres in Marietta, GA, a posh suburb northwest of Atlanta. It has seven bedrooms, six baths, and four half-baths. Built in 1999, the mansion was recently remodeled and now includes a chef’s kitchen, home theater, and separate guesthouse.
The interior features walls of windows, clean lines, high ceilings, and plenty of open space. Outside, the pool is surrounded by natural rock and appears to blend into the landscape.
Johnson, known by football fans as “Megatron,” is a Georgia native, born in Newnan. He starred in college at Georgia Tech before making his NFL debut with the Lions in 2007.
Since his shocking retirement after the 2015 season, the former All-Pro competed on “Dancing With the Stars” and became involved in philanthropy in both the Detroit and Atlanta areas, where he’s split his time.
In July, TMZ caught up with Johnson and asked him if he’d consider an NFL comeback.
“I ain’t trying to catch no more footballs,” he responded.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Johnson’s body took a beating during his nine seasons in the league and he now suffers from chronic ankle pain. During his career, he racked up six trips to the Pro Bowl and hauled in 83 touchdowns.
