Former major leaguer Ray Durham is selling his North Carolina estate for $4.8 million. Built in 2006, the rustic oasis includes a whopping 148 acres of land in the town of Stanley.

Durham, 45, hasn’t played in the bigs since he retired following the 2008 season. Post-retirement, the second baseman has settled in North Carolina with his wife and three children.

The two-time All-Star must have enjoyed retired life on this spread. The woodsy retreat is designed with fun in mind.

According to the listing description, the property includes three parcels and comes with a whopping 148 acres. The extra land provides plenty of privacy, but the spread is only a 30-minute drive to uptown Charlotte.

The home is surrounded by five landscaped acres, and two huge ponds. Both ponds are stocked with fish, and the larger pond has two docks, a gazebo, and a boat launch.

But there’s more. So much more.

“It is quite unique, with a regulation-size softball field including a dugout, fence, and foul poles. Additionally, there are three synthetic golf greens and four tee boxes that criss-cross the two ponds,” says listing agent Kimberly Young of HM Properties.

The property is accessed through a winding, gated driveway. Along with 7,140 square feet of living space, the five-bedroom “luxury log home” constructed of solid white pine logs features a chef’s kitchen, huge dining room, and a great room overlooking the pool and ponds.

The “deluxe” owner’s suite offers views, heated bath floors, plus a custom walk-in closet. The residence also includes a theater room, a game room with wet bar, and a gym.

The outdoor space features a huge outdoor kitchen, and a resort-style, 100,000-plus gallon saltwater pool that includes a diving platform and water slide. Further back on the property, you’ll find a paved, lined, and gated basketball half-court.

The Charlotte-born Durham graduated from Harry P. Harding High School in 1990, where he played both baseball and football. The talented athlete was on the state select baseball team and was an honorable mention All-American defensive back.

The second baseman began his big league career with the Chicago White Sox in 1995. Over his 14-year career, he also played for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s, and Milwaukee Brewers.
