Now out of the legislative branch and ready for a new chapter, former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake is selling his family’s large home in Mesa, AZ, for $650,000.
Filled with family photos throughout, the five-bedroom home was apparently the center of family life for the large Flake family, including his wife, Cheryl, and their five children. Built in 1989, the 4,625-square-foot house sits on a large lot with rolling lawns, a pool, and spa.
According to listing agent Chris Randall, the backyard has been the site of many football games with neighborhood kids.
Substantial yet understated, it’s located in an upscale, gated neighborhood with community tennis courts and a playground.
“Cheryl loves tennis, and they play a game they call Cardio Tennis with the neighbors,” Randall explains. “It’s a great place to raise a family.”
According to the agent, the Flakes are now empty nesters and looking to downsize.
“The last child has left the nest and is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico,” he says.
Newly retired, Flake is keeping busy with speaking engagements around the country, most recently at Tufts and Harvard, pushing his brand of bipartisan politics. Flake’s clearly stated he’s not interested in a 2020 presidential bid, instead pursuing a post-Senate career as a CBS contributor and a board member for home builder Taylor Morrison.
Now, the home where the Flakes raised their kids needs a new family, and the neighborhood needs a new face to organize those football and Cardio Tennis games. Surely Cheryl and Jeff would be willing to walk a prospective buyer through the rules.
