If there was ever an amicable way to deal with community property once a couple has split up, actors Anne Heche and James Tupper have found it.
They announced they were ending their 10-year relationship over a year ago, and rented out their gorgeous family home in the Hancock Park area for awhile. Now, the divorced couple have decided to sell the place—it’s now on the market for $3.95 million.
Tupper and Heche bought the chic new residence in 2009 and paid $1.85 million. The existing home on this large lot had been demolished, and this brand-new, five-bedroom, 4.5 bath Mediterranean Revival-style home was built in its place.
Hidden behind hedges and security gates, it’s the perfect place for celebrities who don’t want people peering into their home.
“The home is landscaped specifically to be ‘stoparazzi,’ offering privacy and security,” says listing agent Billy Rose, president and founder of The Agency.
One you’re on the other side of the gates, you’ll find a handsome home with a distinct Old World feeling. It has towering, wood-beamed ceilings, wrought-iron railings, and a Juliet balcony overlooking the great room.
“Among its spectacular amenities, the family room has staggeringly high ceilings” says Rose.
Those high ceilings continue in the home’s kitchen. Wide open to the family room, the kitchen features statuary-quality marble countertops, pro-style stainless appliances, and one of the most interesting modern chandeliers we’ve seen in recent memory.
In addition, there’s a butler’s pantry with a fancy ice maker and a wine refrigerator.
The home has numerous other luxe features. Rose singles out the three wood-burning fireplaces as exceptional, adding that they’re “unique to find today.”
Downstairs, there’s a guest suite that can double as an office. The other four bedrooms, all with their own bath and exterior balconies, are on the second level.
Among those four bedrooms is the masterful master suite. It features soaring ceilings, double French doors to the balcony, three spacious closets, and a bath with a steam shower, double vanity, and an elegant freestanding tub.
The backyard is thoughtfully designed, with its arched California room and pergola, pool, and curtained cabana.
“The superb outdoor areas offer a relaxing retreat for buyers seeking the ultimate in L.A. living,” says Rose.
Tupper and Heche met on the set of ABC’s “Men in Trees.” They were cast as married couple in the Syfy’s series “Aftermath,” and also worked together on NBC’s “The Brave.”
Tupper is currently starring in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” while Heche has secured a recurring role on “Chicago P.D.”
