Atlanta Falcons’ star wide receiver Julio Jones purchased three properties in the Atlanta area—all in the same week.

Drafted by the Falcons in 2011, the 29-year-old Jones is putting down serious roots in ATL. He’s spent millions in real estate in the metro area.

The property spree kicked off on Oct. 29, when Jones closed on a $532,500 home sitting on more than a half-acre in the Atlanta suburbs.

The stately four-bedroom brick ranch house was built in 1967 and has been completely renovated. It has plenty to offer, including rolling lawns, a vaulted sun room, deck, screen porch, and a nanny suite.

Just a day later, Jones closed another home on a leafy street in suburban Atlanta’s Briarmoor Manor for $555,000. Similar to the home he bought the day before, this brick home was built in the 1960s but has been completely renovated, with hardwood floors, a chef’s kitchen, new roof, deck for entertaining, heated pool, fire pit, and finished basement.

The final property is a baller two-story penthouse atop Atlanta’s W building, with commanding views of Centennial Olympic Park, 24-hour security, and a location just steps from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. According to the listing, the unit, covering more than 4,000 square feet, is the largest in the building. The three-bedroom pad set Jones back $2.3 million, and the deal closed on Nov. 6.

While Jones hasn’t said publicly why he’s snapping up real estate all over Atlanta, you can bet it has something to do with helping someone else. Taking care of others is something Jones has on his mind when he entered the 2011 NFL Draft after his junior season at Alabama.

“Because I feel ready, mentally and physically, and I wanted to be able to take care of my mom,” he told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution at the time of his decision. Jones was raised by his mother, Queen Marvin, in a rough area of Foley, AL, and promised her in high school that if she would let him play football, one day he would make it to the NFL and buy her a house and a car.

No matter how impressive being able to buy three houses in a week might sound, it turns out that the more than $3 million he splashed out on these pads is nothing compared to his other Atlanta project, a $200 million mixed-use complex he’s building in Buford, motivated by his own experience living there and seeing kids in the area with nothing to do.

“Initially, I was just thinking about a sports facility and a family entertainment center,” he said, according to the Journal-Constitution. “I thought, maybe get some computers in there, let kids go there to do their homework and also do athletics. Then we started talking, and we thought, we can just make it a mixed-use development. So the apartments came in, the retail around it.”

The four-time Pro Bowler’s greatness isn’t limited to the football field. Jones is in the midst of leaving a mark on the city that will remain long after his playing days are over. And … he also happens to have great taste in real estate.
