Former Boston Celtics center Aron Baynes is selling his home in Newton, MA, for $1.69 million. Baynes is ready to run a fast break out of Massachusetts after being traded to the Phoenix Suns in June.

The 32-year-old bought the newly built townhouse for $1,585,000 in May 2018. The Italianate structure is known as the Hubbard-Noys-Hartwell House and Barn and registered as a historic landmark. A local developer fully restored, renovated, and converted the building before selling one of the units to the hoopster.

The four-bedroom home features an open floor plan, which includes 12-foot-high ceilings, a high-end kitchen with Thermador appliances, a living area with a gas fireplace, and generous windows throughout.

The master suite comes with a luxe bathroom with the original cupola over the tub, as well as a heated floor. Other notable details include built-in shelves and trim, custom storage throughout, remotely controlled blinds, and surround-sound speakers.

The home also includes a finished lower level, a private patio and deck, and a fenced backyard. The attached two-car garage has custom flooring (Baynes used the space for working out).

“It’s definitely ideal for a family,” says listing agent Manuel Sarks of the Sarkis Team and Douglas Elliman. Sarks notes the extra space in the backyard and proximity to excellent schools.

The home’s location was likely a selling point for the former Celtic, who had signed a two-year contract with the team in 2017. The home is about 10 minutes away from the team’s practice facility, as well as a 20-minute drive to downtown Boston’s TD Garden. The area is close to Whole Foods Market, Newton Corner, and plenty of shopping and dining options.

The New Zealand native played for Washington State University before starting his professional career in Europe. In 2013, he joined the San Antonio Spurs and won an NBA championship with the team in 2014. Baynes also played for the Detroit Pistons before joining the Celtics in 2017.
