Golly! Jim Nabors’ Spectacular Beachfront Honolulu Estate Is Listed for .9M

It’s a long way from Mayberry. The eye-popping estate in Honolulu that belonged to actor Jim Nabors is now on the market for just under $15 million.

The mansion is an iconic piece of Oahu property located just two doors down from Doris Duke‘s Shangri-La estate. Perched above the beaches and at the foot of Diamond Head, the home comes with 170 feet of ocean frontage and spectacular views from every angle.

Built in 1950, the 6,000-square-foot, plantation-style home has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The half-acre lot it sits on features lush, tropical landscaping in harmony with the island surroundings.

The home’s layout is open and airy, with walls lined with floor-to-ceiling windows to take advantage of ocean views and breezes. There’s also an attached one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest suite for visitors who will undoubtedly flock to revel in the beauty of this unparalleled location.

Nabors bought the home in 1992 and died there in 2017, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was 87.

“I’ve met more interesting people here than I ever did in Hollywood,” he explained in 2008 in American Profile about his love affair with Hawaii. “Hawaii is very Eden-esque. I really appreciate it more every day.”

Nabors was best known for playing Gomer Pyle, a simple-minded and gentle auto mechanic who later joins the Marines on the “Andy Griffith Show.” The popular character later got his own spinoff, “Gomer Pyle: USMC.”

Nabors was also an accomplished singer, and released 46 albums over his career.

But it was Hawaii, rather than Hollywood, where Nabors found peace. In 1976 he sold his home in Bel Air, and moved to the islands.

Now the incredible home of an iconic American performer is available for someone else to create their own paradise on this pristine piece of Hawaii coast.
