All-Star Edgar Renteria Takes Another Swing at Selling Miami Beach Home

Former All-Star infielder Edgar Renteria has put his Florida home back on the market. He’s now asking $6.25 million for the Miami Beach retreat.

The longtime MLB shortstop purchased the place five years ago for $3.6 million. In May 2017, he listed the waterfront estate for $4.9 million, but no buyers took a swing. Will the more robust asking price catch a buyer?

Well, the price is much higher than the area’s median asking price of $1,787,000. But perhaps the true value is in the dirt beneath the home.

The home is located on Allison Island, one of the few in the area to offer non-high-rise living. The third-of-an-acre lot features a pool, patio, boat dock, and Miami skyline and bay views.

The listing suggests the property could be purchased as a (pricey!) teardown: “Great home to enjoy for years to come or perfect to build a brand new mansion.”

The 4,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The open layout includes a formal dining area, family room, and living room. There’s also an all-white kitchen, as well as an entertainment space with a bar.

The property also comes with a guest home and a two-car garage. 

Renteria, the 2010 World Series MVP, retired after the 2011 season, after 16 seasons in the big leagues. An owner of two World Series rings, he batted .286 over the course of his career.
