Self-made billionaire, political candidate, and philanthropist Ross Perot died on Tuesday.

The 89-year-old was best known for launching two unsuccessful presidential bids in the 1990s, running against President George H.W. Bush, President Bill Clinton, and candidate Bob Dole. Although his quixotic campaign garnered him nationwide notoriety, his greatest triumphs were in the business world.

Perot amassed his wealth in computer services, founding Electronic Data Systems Corp. in 1962. He sold control of the company just over two decades later to General Motors for a cool $2.5 billion. In 1988, he founded Perot Systems Corp.

Along with an inspiring legacy, Perot leaves behind an impressive real estate portfolio. The property is expected to go to his wife of more than 60 years, Margot Perot, and their son and four daughters.

Perot’s main residence was in Dallas, an 8,264-square-foot home on nearly 17 acres in the exclusive Preston Hollow neighborhood. The five-bedroom brick home with a slate roof is likely worth tens of millions judging by area homes on the market. On the same street, there’s currently a $23 million mansion on the market as well as a $19.5 million mansion designed by master architect Philip Johnson.

The Dallas mansion also comes with some notable neighbors. Former President George W. Bush lives just a couple of miles away as does Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

The mansion boasts four fireplaces and a wet bar, according to property records. There is a greenhouse and at least one pool on the property. Built in 1940, the home is listed as belonging to H.R. and Margot Perot. His name also appears as the owner of the 1.5-acre lot adjacent to the main property.

Heading farther north, Perot also reportedly owned a large vacation home in Denison, TX, on Lake Texoma. The town sits on the border of Oklahoma, a little over an hour’s drive north of Dallas. According to aerial images, Perot’s estate also boasts a kidney-shaped pool.

Perot was also familiar with ski country. He owned an eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom, hillside ski chalet in Vail, CO, across from the Four Seasons Residence Club. The over 5,100-square-foot home was built in 1991 and is estimated to be worth about $9,865,000, according to realtor.com® data.

Perot’s son, Ross Perot Jr., was reported to own the home next door, although it’s unclear if he still does.

He also owned property abroad. The Perots kept a compound in Bermuda, where the businessman reportedly spent this past Easter with his family.

And for all of his plain-spoken, down-home charm, Perot was also a man who knew his way around Hollywood. He owned a 10,000-square-foot compound in Los Angeles he sold to fellow billionaire George Lucas in 2017 for $33.9 million.

A company tied to the Perots sold the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom, gated estate in Los Angeles to a company affiliated with the “Star Wars” director, according to Mansion Global.

The gated home was built in 1929 and features Moorish tiled fountains, a patio, screening room (perfect for watching “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”), guesthouse, putting green, and garage.

He even made a tidy profit on his foray in L.A.—his limited liability company had purchased the home for $18 million in 2013.
