The swanky former apartment of famed chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain in New York City is on the rental market, TMZ has reported. But prospective Manhattan tenants would need to shell out $14,200 month for the two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment where the star of CNN’s “Parts Unknown” lived before his death in June.

Unlike on his show, where Bourdain traveled to the far corners of the world to showcase little-known delicacies, often in humble conditions, the condo Bourdain was subletting is the epitome of luxury. The nearly 1,300-square-foot residence in the Time Warner Center features a foyer, floor-to-ceiling windows, views of the city and the Hudson River, two walk-in closets (the ultimate New York City luxury), a marble bathroom, and hardwood floors. It also has a state-of-the-art kitchen, as befits a chef like Bourdain.

The Time Warner Center, in midtown Manhattan’s busy Columbus Circle, is located off Central Park near lots of shopping and fancy restaurants. It offers high-end amenities such as concierge service, a health club, spa and fitness center, screening room, and a landscaped sundeck. The twin high-rises that make up the center were built in 2004.

Bourdain was 61 at the time of his apparent suicide in a hotel room in France. The author of more than a dozen books, including his best-seller “Kitchen Confidential,” left behind an 11-year-old daughter.

“Some people may be inclined to want to live there because of him,” says New York City luxury real estate agent Chris Fry of Elegran, who has shown units at that address. Many investors bought units in the building years ago and now rent them out, while others use them as pieds-à-terre. “[But] the building is great. It’s obviously centrally located. … Everything is right there.”
