Actor Michael Douglas is playing a major role in the sale of his estate. In a renewed push to sell his property on the Spanish island of Mallorca, the Oscar winner has put his considerable talents into narrating a video featuring the vacation villa.

Along with the star-powered video, Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones have slashed the price to $32.5 million. While still an enormous sum, it’s a significant discount from the $60 million it was listed for about five years ago.

The lavish property includes more than 200 acres, a main house, and five apartments.

While Douglas and Zeta-Jones provide Hollywood glamour, the sumptuous property boasts a storied past of its own. Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Habsburg purchased the main house in 1867 and transformed it into a “magical” retreat he named S’Estaca.

“When I first saw S’Estaca in 1990, I also fell under its spell and bought the property,” Douglas says in the clip. “Many of my friends have stayed in S’Estaca, and we’ve enjoyed wonderful times together.” Those friends include celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, and Jack Nicholson.

The property includes olive groves, a vineyard, and woods. Tastefully renovated and modernized, the main house features a spacious master suite with open fireplaces, terraces, and sea views.

There’s also a library, multimedia lounge, wine cellar, gym, spa, and swimming pool. In addition, the port of S’Estaca adjoins the estate with a private pier and fisherman’s house.

The property is dreamy, “but my life has taken a new course, and now it’s time for me to let someone else enjoy the privilege and adventure of S’Estaca,” the 74-year-old actor says.

The Douglas video is a high-profile attempt at seriously selling the property, which first came on the market in 2014, according to Architectural Digest. Will the video, which has received plenty of attention on the web, entice a buyer to bite on a remote and pricey property? Time will tell.

In 2017, actor Jim Belushi took the idea a step further with a personal tour of his Brentwood, CA, home. Two years later, the property was back on the market, with a price cut.

Perhaps Douglas will have better luck. The Oscar winner starred in “Wall Street” and “Fatal Attraction.” More recently, he was in the Netflix series “The Kominsky Method.”
