Phil Jackson Selling Luxe NYC Apartment After Knicks Firing

Phil Jackson Selling Luxe NYC Apartment After Knicks Firing

After a tumultuous four-year stint in the front office of the New York Knicks, legendary NBA coach Phil Jackson is parting with his opulent apartment at the Osbourne, a 132-year-old building in midtown Manhattan.

The Knicks dismissed Jackson in late June, paving the way for his pricey pad to land on the market four months later. Listed for $4.95 million, the two-bedroom apartment in New York City is “truly beautiful residence,” according to listing agent Nancy Tela.

The apartment “is in a desirable spot because you have easy access to the best of Manhattan, and Central Park is your backyard,” Tela says.

On the National Register of Historic Places, the Osbourne features architectural details from the Gilded Age. Jackson’s apartment includes a few such details as mahogany paneling, stained-glass windows, and hardwood flooring.

Other highlights include three wood-burning fireplaces, a mahogany-paneled library, and a 33-foot-long living room. Tela describes the place as a “blend of comfort and warmth with architectural grandeur.”

Jackson had two legendary runs as an NBA coach and won 11 NBA titles over the course of his storied career. He was the boss behind Michael Jordan‘s prime years with the Chicago Bulls of the ’90s and won six rings in the Windy City. He then left for sunny Southern California and won five more rings with Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jackson’s coaching success didn’t carry over to his front office tenure with the Knicks, where a mix of lousy contracts, a stagnant offense, and personality conflicts prevented the squad from even making the playoffs. But he’ll likely have better luck finding a buyer for his elegant NYC apartment. As Tela puts it, “This place is something extraordinary.”
