Take an Intimate Look Inside Mandy Moore’s Newly Remodeled Home

Take an Intimate Look Inside Mandy Moore’s Newly Remodeled Home

After splitting from Ryan Adams in 2016, “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore started over and planted roots in Pasadena, CA. She purchased a midcentury modern fixer-upper for a cool $2.65 million and got to work.

After a breakup, many women find themselves by embarking on a trip, taking up a new hobby, or doing something as simple as changing their hairstyle. Not Moore. The actress painstakingly reimagined every room—and the exterior—of her new home, infusing her signature style.

With Los Angeles architect Emily Farnham and interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel, Moore created an oasis of bright and spacious beauty.

Moore went for a minimalist look and hewed to the midcentury modern style. Everything from the bathrooms to the backyard exterior was touched by Farnham and Sherman Samuel, and the results are pretty stellar.

The guest bathroom would make a mathematician swoon with its geometric patterns and symmetry.

The women turned a dark and drab living space into a light and airy haven. (Click right on the Instagram gallery to see the grim before pics.)

What was once a drab and boring dining room has been transformed into a space that’s nearly too pretty to defile with food. Moore admits she has yet to use the space for a meal.

Soooo we have yet to eat an actual meal in our dining room BUT I think we’re just waiting to host a dinner party or Thanksgiving or something (we’ve hosted friends outside a few times because it’s summer and why not enjoy the weather). However, I’m still excited about the airy elegance that @sarahshermansamuel brought to this room: the color palette, the funky chandelier, the @allmodern burl table of my dreams, the oversized artwork by @loumora and sculptural vases, etc…. They all work together to highlight the original brickwork and planters from 1950 (when the house was built) and the copper fireplace hood. I can’t vouch for my cooking but atleast we’ll have a nice setting for future holidays, right?? The kitchen was the one room in the house that wasn’t dated and drab when Moore purchased the home, but that didn’t stop her. She had the room mostly gutted and tailored to fit her personal style as well.

Next up on the house tour is our kitchen. @sarahshermansamuel, @emilyfarnhamarchitecture and I worked hard to take away the terrible 80’s curved breakfast nook (the same thing we did in the master bath), while keeping the square footage it gave us. I knew I wanted the kitchen to be open and light, complete with open shelving and plenty of prep space and room to hang/chat around the island. Plus there’s a great view out the back sliding door that we wanted to take full advantage of. It’s the room that we end up spending the most time in and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it came together. Peep the before and after photos here and on @sarahshermansamuel’s blog. As for Moore’s bedroom, it’s simply the stuff of dreams.

The interior spaces weren’t the only ones to benefit from an incredible overhaul. Farnham went to work to bring together Moore’s backyard, which is now the perfect place for dining, entertaining, and relaxing.

Moore and the women who brought this house back to life deserve all the accolades. The place they’ve created is something special.
