There’s one inevitable (yet enjoyable) truth about the holiday season: an onslaught of Hallmark Movies.

These light and cheery holiday-themed flicks are widely recognized as emotional comfort food for cozy winter nights. After the happy ending is revealed and the credits roll, many viewers fantasize about living in one of the small towns featured in the films.

Who doesn’t want to live where the snow is abundant and well groomed and the neighbors are friendly? Well, now you can. In Chester, VT, a true-life small town of about 3,000, the Hugging Bear Inn is currently on the market for $470,000.

The adorable Victorian-style inn was featured in the 2008 Hallmark movie “Moonlight and Mistletoe,” starring Candice Cameron Bure. Built in the early 1800s, it still operates as an inn today.

“The woodwork is really beautiful,” says listing agent Jessica Citera. “Much of it is original, and it’s just incredibly detailed.”

The handcrafted woodwork appears in each of the inn’s main rooms. It’s also visible in the home’s gorgeous staircase, which is made of cedar and features detailed railings.

The study, living space, and window detailing are also ornate and characteristic of the time in which the inn was built.

Citera laughs when she mentions the kitchen might be original as well. “I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been updated.” This could be true, but for a property that’s nearly 200 years old, the inn is in otherwise pristine condition.

“The property has been really well maintained,” says Citera. “There’s so much someone can do with this property.”

The seven-bedroom building with a classic turret also boasts an abundance of windows to make the most of the natural light. However, it isn’t the only building on the property.

There’s also a two-story carriage house, which “was once used to keep horses,” says Citera. “It still has the hay bail drop from the top story and the stables as well.” Today, the space could be used as a garage.

What was once an attached garage has now been converted into a retail store, and the old pig barn on the property has been converted into a private cottage with three bedrooms.

And the possibilities for a Hallmark-inspired buyer run the gamut from innkeeper to event coordinator.

“Someone could easily live here and run the inn, or rent the whole thing out,” says Citera.

Whether or not you fancy a property with a ton of history or the notoriety of a movie set, Hugging Bear Inn just might be your perfect match. Live out your version of happy holidays all year round.
