As vacation getaways go, this mountaintop retreat in Napa, CA, is nothing short of spectacular. But paradise comes with a price: The luxury property is on the market for $25.5 million.

The estate was built in 2014 after the owners, looking for a vacation spot, came across the land with a half-finished chateau on it. They purchased the property, then started over on the residence with architect and designer Russell Groves.

Rather than a formal mansion, they wanted a place that was “rustic and fun and camplike,” according to Architectural Digest. 

On his website, Groves describes the contemporary yet casual design as “camp-chic.” The home connects “the dwelling’s arrestingly detailed interiors with the lowland’s rugged surroundings.”

The home measures nearly 11,000 square feet and has eight bedrooms, including a guesthouse. There’s also an infinity pool, tennis court, three-car garage, and 250 acres to explore. The home is completely open up in the back, to better take in views of the gorgeous valley. 

“The home is amazing and took three years to complete and cost $34 million,” says listing agent Olivia Hsu Decker. Which means a buyer can scoop this place up for less than what it cost to build.

The attention-grabbing build has also been featured in the pages of GQ. We can see why. The design has both looks and smarts. The open layout boasts a triple-height ceiling in the great room. Outside, you’ll find a covered porch with barbecue grill and bar, dining space, terraces, and a pool.

Guests can gather around the marble island in the kitchen, snack at the built-in banquette, or enjoy a multicourse meal at the formal dining table. There’s plenty of room to spread out on the multiple terraces, or sip away the day in the wine room.

The master suite features a luxurious bath, which opens to a private outdoor spa. The secluded space features dual open-air showers and a garden. 

The spread includes three parcels: The 123-acre parcel includes the 9,500-square-foot main house with six beds and 5.5 baths, and a 1,000-square-foot, two-bed, two-bath guesthouse. The other two parcels are 67 acres and 95 acres, of which the latter is buildable. Your friends will be glad to hear you have room to build another guesthouse or three.
