Retired NFL defensive end Chris Long has parted ways with his Charlottesville, VA, home, selling it earlier this month for $2.45 million.

Long purchased this home in 2014 for just $1 million, which means the former University of Virginia star pocketed a nice profit.

He and his wife expanded the classic four-bedroom abode, increasing its living space to almost 5,000 square feet. Some of the home’s original elements remain, including the foyer, study with built-ins, formal living and dining rooms, and three bedrooms on the second floor.

Along with removing an older addition, they added a master suite, an open kitchen and family room, another bath, and a mudroom. The finished basement is currently a theater and bar, but could also be converted into guest quarters.

The outdoor space includes three decks (one is on the roof), a patio, and landscaping.

Long, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, starred for the Virginia Cavaliers before being drafted second overall in 2008 by the St. Louis Rams. After eight seasons with the Rams, Long signed with the New England Patriots and won a Super Bowl. He then joined the Philadelphia Eagles and won another Super Bowl.

In 2017, Long pledged to donate his entire year’s salary to educational charities. He then announced his retirement on Twitter after the 2018 season, and was named the Walter Peyton NFL Man of the Year.
