After Buying Cal Ripken’s Estate, Orioles’ Adam Jones Lists .7M Maryland Mansion

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones is selling his spectacular Maryland mansion for $2.7 million.

The sale comes a couple of months after Jones placed the winning bid for Hall of Famer and Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr.’s sprawling estate.

With Ripken’s compound firmly in his golden glove, Jones is ready to move on from his suburban mansion. Located in Timonium, MD, the six-bedroom home Jones is selling measures in at a massive 9,000 square feet. The five-time All-Star purchased the home in 2011 for $1.5 million.

Originally built in 1952, the home has been updated with many modern conveniences, including a recreation room, workout room, and a bluestone patio, and pool across three-and-a-half lush, landscaped acres.

Jones made a $3.47 million winning bid at an auction for the Ripken estate on May 12, according to the Baltimore Sun.

He snagged himself quite a deal, considering that Ripken initially put the property on the market in September 2016 for $12.5 million. With no buyer stepping up to the plate, Ripken opted to put the place up for auction with no reserve price. In a fascinating ninth-inning twist, Jones was the winning bidder.

Jones’ new place is a nearly 22,000-square-foot home built by Ripken in 1987 on 24 acres in Reisterstown, MD. The main house features six bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms, a home theater, and a garage big enough to house eight cars. The property was tailor-made for Ripken’s athletic lifestyle, with its indoor basketball court, pool, gym, dance studio, and, of course, a regulation baseball field.

Jones is now in the middle of his 11th season, manning centerfield for the Orioles. In addition to his numerous All-Star nods, he’s won four Gold Glove Awards, as well as a Silver Slugger Award. In the off season, Jones and his wife, Audie, head to his hometown of San Diego, but the couple maintain close ties to the Baltimore community, where Audie was raised.
