140 MW Solar Project Approved

Drafts solar projects which are able to generate power up to 140 MW were approved and the projects are in four provinces.

The draft solar projects were unanimously approved in a plenary session at National Assembly held on December 23, cited that the solar projects are located in four provinces including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, and Svay Rieng.

Under the approved draft solar projects, Green Sustainable Ventures Co Ltd invests 20 MW solar projects in Svay Rieng province, Ray Power Supply Co Ltd invests 30 MW solar project in Banteay Meanchey province, Risen Energy Co Lte invests 60 MW solar project in Battambang province, and SchneiTec Infinite Co Ltd invests 30 MW in Pursat province.

H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, said in plenary session that demand of power has increased with high rate and response to the ongoing demand, Ministry of Mines and Energy has urged for development on energy sector both energy sources and energy transmission lines to ensure the supplies with stable, efficiency, and affordable prices.

Currently, 90 MW linked to the grid are being generated from two solar projects including a 10 MW solar farm in Bavet town and 80 MW solar farm in Kampong Speu province.
