Kelsey and Camille Grammer’s Former Malibu Estate Up for Sale Again
The former Malibu home of Kelsey and Camille Grammer has returned to the market with an asking price of $19,950,000.
We had a sneak peek inside the home shortly before the Grammers sold the lavish estate in 2015 for close to $13 million. Camille threw a giant estate sale to pare down some of her designer belongings, and we scored an invite. We were wowed.
The property itself is unique in all of Malibu—it’s located on almost 5 acres of land, much of it flat, yet the home sits on a hillside. It’s elevated just enough to get a clear view of the nearby beach.
It’s located in the guard-gated Serra Retreat community, which many a celebrity has called home, including Mel Gibson, James Cameron, Brooke Burke, and Larry Ellison.
Serra Retreat is an area that the listing agents, Sandro Dazzan and Cooper Mount of The Agency, are well familiar with—they grew up in the area. “It’s one of the few areas in Malibu where you can play with your friends in a guard-gated community, and then walk down to the Malibu Country Mart or even the beach or the lagoon.”
As for the property itself, it comes with a price tag close to $20 million, but it’s actually priceless. Dazzan told us that Malibu building restrictions have become more inflexible since the home was built. “You can’t duplicate it under current codes,” he says.
There is close to 14,000 square feet of indoor living space, divided between a 7,841-square-foot main house, a 6,085-square-foot guesthouse, a small security station, and a few other outbuildings.
And that doesn’t even include the large barn, with six stalls and a riding paddock just outside.
Also on the grounds are a lovely pool, two outdoor spas, a tennis court, a barbecue area with fireplace, an organic vegetable garden, a fruit orchard, rose gardens, and beautiful Monet-inspired lily ponds.
The main house and the guesthouse were built in the style of a European chateau, and all the rooms were designed on a grand scale. Crystal chandeliers dangle from soaring ceilings. Some rooms have French doors, but others have pivoting doors that lead out to an extensive flagstone deck.
The kitchen was custom-designed by Wolfgang Puck and features three islands. It also has a dedicated pizza oven, a perfect opportunity to try your hand at Puck’s signature smoked-salmon pizza.
Most of the property’s seven bedrooms are en suite, and several of them have fireplaces.
Other rooms of note include a climate-controlled wine cellar, wood-paneled library, and a large theater.
There’s also a huge master suite with a private sitting room, ocean-view balcony, and luxurious, spalike bathroom. The walk-in closet is large enough to accommodate an entire family—or, of course, the wardrobes of two committed fashion aficionados.
Camille has been appearing on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” consistently since 2010, and ardent viewers will remember this mansion as the site of season one’s infamous “Dinner Party From Hell.” Last year, she lost her newer Malibu home in the Woolsey fire.
