Construction Projects Increase 50 Percent in 2019

Construction projects were 4,446 projects in 2019, a 55 percent increase compared to a year before, while investment amount was US$9.3 billion, a 78 percent increase.

Annual report from Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction showed that construction projects nationwide were built over 18.5 million square meters, a 62 percent increase compared to 2018 when the constructions covered on total land of 11.4 million square meters.

In 2019, there are 436 projects of buildings from 5 floors up. Of that, 203 buildings are located in Preah Sihanoukville province.

The report pointed out that there are 23 buildings with 32 floors up and skyscrapers, which have from 40 floors up, has 13 buildings.

Of the construction projects, residential construction in 2019 was 3,732 projects with investment amount of US$3 billion.

Hotel constructions were 66 projects and commercial constructions were 312 with investment amount of US$586 million and US$3.5 billion respectively.

The report stated that factory construction were 121 projects with US$1.1 billion as investment amount.

From 2000 to 2019, the ministry has issued construction permits nationwide at 48,004 projects with total investment amount of US$51 billion.

In 2018, there were 2,867 construction projects with investment amount of US$ 5.2 billion.
