Duggar Watch: Jill and Derick Dillard Move Into New Arkansas Home

It looks like Jill and Derick Dillard are onto shiny, new things. You might be wondering “Who?” Jill Dillard is better known by her maiden name, Jill Duggar. Yes, she’s part of the Duggar clan—the reality TV family from TLC’s “19 and Counting” and “Counting On.”
In a recent blog post, the Dillards said they’ve moved to Lowell, AR, to “be closer to family.”
There’s been wide speculation that the couple are on the outs with the rest of the Duggar family, and moving into a new home of their own will likely fuel the rumor mill. Their former home was owned by Papa and Mama Duggar, better known as Jim Bob and Michelle.
The two are no longer a part of “Counting On,” TLC’s spinoff show chronicling the older children of the clan. Their absence is said to be due to Derick’s transphobic tweets (though he himself insists this isn’t true).
Given the timeline Jill provided online, the Dillards moved out of their former home before the house in Lowell was finished. Records show they may have lived in an apartment while construction was underway.
According to Jill’s post, their new house, which is located in a brand-new development, has been under construction for a few months. Recent photos on social media show the home is done and the family moving in.
Apparently the couple visited the home often while it was in various stages of construction. They drew their handprints and wrote loving sentiments on the concrete of the unfinished flooring. They wrote bible verses on the bare studs and railings in the house. They even had their sons’ handprints drawn on a piece of wood that was probably covered by drywall and paint.
The new house is a fairly simple build—one story with a brick overlay. There’s a two-car garage and a sizable backyard. We have no information on the exact square footage or number of bedrooms—yet.
The couple seem delighted to move into their new place with their two sons. Perhaps it’s because they’re out from under the Duggar wing? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
