Ex-Louisville Football Coach Bobby Petrino Close to Selling His Kentucky Home

There’s some positive news for former University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino. His Louisville, KY, home—on the market for $1.45 million—is pending sale just one month after he listed it.

Petrino, who was let go by the Cardinals in November after seven straight losses, was able to arrange a quick sale three weeks after his unceremonious dismissal.

To accelerate a deal, he listed the home for less than the $1.69 million he paid for it in 2014, the same year he was hired for his second stint as head coach for the team. His loss will be assuaged by the $14.1 million the university paid out on his remaining contract.

Listing price aside, we can see what led the home to be snapped up in a hurry.

Located just steps from the Lake Forest Country Club, the estate was built in 2009. The grand foyer features travertine flooring and barrel-vaulted ceiling, opening to the living room with a fireplace and built-ins. 

The dining room includes a bar, and the chef’s kitchen is equipped with a granite island and eat-in area. It’s adjacent to a family room with a fireplace. There’s also a wood-paneled office covered with sports memorabilia, a recurring theme throughout the house.

The 10,416-square-foot home has six bedrooms, including a spacious master suite with a sitting area and patio. It sits on a half-acre lot, which includes a pool, covered outdoor area, and fire pit.

The big score is the lower level, which features a stone fireplace in the family room which flows into a rec room with a wet bar and wine room with humidor, along with a media room and a gym. Too tired to climb the stairs? Take the elevator. Or take a seat in the lower-level family room, which also boasts a fireplace.

The 57-year-old Petrino also spent time as the head man in Arkansas and Western Kentucky. Football fans will likely remember the bridges he torched on his way out of his lone season as an NFL head coach with the Atlanta Falcons.
