Former U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann and her husband, Marcus, have sold their home in West Lakeland, MN, for $945,000.
The couple had purchased the four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom abode in 2008 for $760,000. Though they closed on the sale earlier this year, they still haven’t bought a new place.
Marcus Bachmann told Biz Journals they are looking in the Twin Cities area for a new, smaller space. “We are downsizing,” he told the publication.
Built in 2005, the large house they sold measures 5,420 square feet and sits on 2.75 acres. Perched on the 18th hole of the Stone Ridge Golf Club, the residence offers views of the St. Croix Valley and golf course.
The great room features floor-to-ceiling windows, and the chef’s kitchen comes with marble counters, walnut flooring, and a casual dining area. The adjacent sunroom opens to the patio.
On the main level are a formal dining room and a wood-paneled den, which shares a double-sided fireplace with the great room.
The master suite offers wall-to-wall windows, a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, and a walk-in closet. The marble en suite bathroom features a whirlpool tub and large walk-in shower with travertine tile.
On the lower level, along with additional bedrooms and baths, there’s a family room and fireplace, wet bar, wine cellar, and gym.
Outside, the patio features a lounge and dining area, a fire pit, a hot tub, and a dance floor.
Michele Bachmann, a tea party Republican, represented Minnesota’s 6th District from 2007 to 2015 and was a passionate opponent of the Affordable Care Act. After an unsuccessful bid for the GOP nomination for president in 2012, she considered running for Democrat Al Franken’s vacated U.S. Senate seat, but ultimately decided against it.
