Frank Lloyd Wright’s Cedar Lake House Is This Week’s Most Popular Home

The most popular home on realtor.com® this week isn’t a flashy mansion owned by a celebrity. Instead, you were clicking on the classics! The most viewed property is a classic residence in Minnesota, overlooking Cedar Lake and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

In a twist, the pedigreed property isn’t exactly fresh on the market. It’s been up for sale for over a year, with a couple of price cuts—and still hasn’t found a buyer willing to make the Wright move. Perhaps its uptick in popularity signals that a buyer is ready for the demands of maintaining such an important piece of American architecture.

The runner-up this week is a midcentury modern masterpiece designed by architect Jim Sherrill. Built as his personal residence in 1956, it comes complete with a sweet, raised bathtub he created to make bathing babies easier.

Built in 1951, the three-bedroom home is listed on the National Historic Register and overlooks Cedar Lake. The 2,500-square-foot home sits on nearly a half-acre and has been beautifully maintained by its two previous owners. Given the popularity of Wright’s designs, we’re not shocked to see it pop up as our most popular property. However, we are shocked at how long it’s taken to sell.
