Government to spend US million to modernise Calmette Hospital

The government will spend US$30 million on renovating Calmette Hospital, along with tens of millions of dollars in funding to modernise the state’s leading hospital.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that “today, I decide to release US$ 30 million to continue building a 12-storey building that has already been built by the hospital for 17% of the project costing US$39.7 million”.

He added that for the installation of equipment in both the new building and the old building, the generous funding as of 24 November has been US$53 million. He hoped that these efforts would make Calmette Hospital a modern state hospital.

H.E Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Speciality Center at Calmette Hospital last year said that the building was to response to the increase​​ the overwhelming rate of bed usage is up to 128% in 2017. Read more

The Specialty Center will be 12 storeys tall and can accommodate up to 328 beds. Plans are for the work to be completed in mid-2021.

Calmette Hospital has inaugurated three health facilities, first was the neurosurgery building, second was the cancer and maternity care units, and the current one is the US$ 40 million specialty center.
