How to take a good photograph

How to take a good photograph

Make every listing stand out by taking good photographs of the property.

As someone searches through new properties on the Internet it is likely that they will scroll through hundreds of listings. As they easily merge into one it is important to make sure your listing stands out with professional photograph. Follow these top tips in order to take good photograph to help boast the property.

1. Take a step back.

Have a good look at the property. Is there anything in the room which may not photograph well? If there is a bright orange throw covering the sofa, it is likely that this will become the focal point of the image drawing your eye to this rather than the room itself. Remove anything that may stand out and detract from the room’s other features.

2. Declutter.

Spending time decluttering and removing personal belongings is vital. You need to create a blank, but inviting, canvas for people to imagine themselves living there. Tidy and straighten too lining up cushions and smoothing out the duvet. Imagine the property as a five-star hotel and make sure it presents like this.

3. Invest in the right equipment.

It pays to use a professional camera with a wide angled lens. It might seem a costly outlay but it will soon quickly pay off, plus the quality of the listing will quickly improve.

4. Take some test shoots.

Take some test photos and study them closely to see if there is anything that is not making the property look its best. This is your opportunity to adjust the lighting which easily changes the look of the image. You may not notice until the photo is taken that the cushions are crooked or even worse your reflection is shown.

5. Be picky.

Less is certainly more and be selective in the images that you choose. Pick the best ones and only upload these which will help to keep the user engaged.
