Mark Ballas of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Attempts Pricey Beverly Hills Flip
Longtime “Dancing with the Stars” choreographer and professional dancer Mark Ballas is doubling down on high-end real estate flipping in Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, he listed a four-bedroom, five-and-a-half bath, 4,870-square-foot home in Beverly Hills, CA, for $4.3 million—less than a year after buying the home for $2.5 million.
Ballas has experience in high-end real estate transactions. In 2014, he and fellow “DWTS” dancer Derek Hough invited an HGTV camera crew to follow their four-week journey as they bought a fixer-upper for $1.2 million, spent $200,000 on upgrades, and then sold it for $1.8 million. “Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip” aired last year.
The stakes—and potential profit—are even higher with Ballas’ latest renovation.
We’re not sure if he’ll manage to waltz away with the full asking price, but the work done on the home is stunning. Originally built in 1973, the Spanish-style mansion underwent a top-to-bottom renovation, accentuating its high ceilings and open floor plan. The home has two kitchens, two family rooms, a bonus room, and en suite bathrooms in every bedroom.
The kitchen has white cabinetry, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, a metal farmhouse-style sink, and tiled backsplash. The level, 15,000-square-foot lot has a flat, grassy backyard, ideal for entertaining, and pool.
The home’s $4.3 million listing price is fairly competitive for the neighborhood, particularly given its ultradesirable 90210 ZIP code.
There’s currently an $85 million, 11-bedroom, 17-bath mansion on the market located about a mile west of Ballas’ listing. Both homes look like steals in comparison with the most expensive listing in Beverly Hills, a $135 million, 7-bedroom, 10-bath mansion for sale on the other side of Franklin Canyon.
Ballas, 30, has appeared on 18 seasons of ABC’s perennially popular dancing competition. He most recently with paired with MMA fighter Paige VanZant on Season 22, ultimately helping her win second place on the show. Ballas has two “DWTS” mirror ball trophies, earned with former Olympic ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi in Season 6 and former Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson in Season 8.
