Mark Emmert, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, continues to shuffle his real estate portfolio. He’s now parting with his waterfront retreat in Clinton, WA, for $2.6 million. It is located on picturesque Whidbey Island, which is about an hour from Seattle and accessible by car or ferry.

Built in 2010 on 15 acres, the 3,243-square-foot house has four bedrooms. The landscaped grounds include views of the mountains and water, and feature two fire pits, a bocce court, pond, and waterfall.

Inside, the great room includes living and dining areas, as well as an open kitchen and wine room. The space features vaulted ceilings, a stone fireplace, and folding doors that open to an outdoor terrace. A covered area holds an outdoor kitchen.

With three en suite bedrooms and a kids’ room with built-in bunk beds, there’s plenty of space for guests and extended family.

Emmert, a Washington native, was president of the University of Washington from 2004–10. This place would be an ideal getaway from the rigors of college administration.

It’s probably less so now, with his job at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis. Or, perhaps his job just doesn’t afford him much time to kick back and watch the whales go by.

Or leave time to go wine tasting. In 2018, the NCAA boss also shed his luxury home in Sonoma, CA. The $3.2 million Craftsman is pending sale.

The 66-year-old spent much of his career as an academic administrator before accepting a lucrative position leading the NCAA, which regulates student athletes.
