No Joke—You Can Buy Comedian Whitney Cummings’ Midcentury Modern Home for M

Comedian, writer, and director Whitney Cummings is hoping to have the last laugh on the sale of her pristine midcentury modern ranch house in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood.

Cummings, who purchased the home in 2011 for $1,484,725, recently put it on the market for a cool $2 million.

“Located in Studio City’s Wrightwood Estates, this private architectural paradise is at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac,” says listing agent Michael Collins of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “With an unassuming gated entry and idyllic backyard, this 1960s California ranch has been perfectly updated and modernized for the 21st century.”

Indeed, the front entry is very unassuming. In fact, the home is barely visible from the street. But what’s behind those hedges and two-car garage definitely dazzles.

The shaded entryway with the globe-shape fountain gives way to an open living and dining room with cathedral ceiling and floating, double-sided fireplace. Striking, architectural sliding doors and floor-to-ceiling windows naturally illuminate the great room.

2011 was a big year for Cummings. Not only did she purchase this house, but  the show she co-created with Michael Patrick King, “2 Broke Girls,” also premiered. Her comedy “Whitney,” a semifictional version of her own life, in which she starred, also debuted.

Since then, Cummings, now 37, has had her own talk show, and produced and starred in a number of comedy specials. In July Netflix released her hourlong comedy special, “Can I Touch It?”
