Writer, director, and actor Nick Cassavetes just cut $400,000 off the price of his Los Angeles home after just three months on the market. He relisted the mansion for $4,399,000 this week. It was originally priced at $4,799,000.

The “Notebook” director seems motivated to sell the Hollywood estate, which he purchased in 1998 for $749,000. Perhaps the reduced price will lead some well-heeled buyer to come through and fall in love at first sight.

And there’s so much to fall for. The sleek, modern pad is perched atop the Hollywood Hills in the tony Mount Olympus neighborhood.

Built in 1972, the 4,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bathroom has been updated and polished to gleaming perfection. With views of the city below, the home sits on a half-acre lot edged by tall shrubs and stainless-steel doors for security. The latter open to reveal a large yard with a heated pool and spa.

Even though Cassavetes personally designed the space, he’s ready to part with the place.

“This property is a perfect home for anyone looking to be close to the Hollywood action, while also being able to enjoy privacy,” listing agent Linn Renee Sivertsen of The Agency told realtor.com® in June when the property was first listed.

“The house is hidden behind a tall wall of greenery, and when you walk through the gate, you are greeted by a large Buddha waterfall … which feels very Zen-like,” Sivertsen added.

In addition to his directing credits, Cassavetes has appeared in front of the camera in films such as “Face/Off” and “The Astronaut’s Wife.” He is the son of actress Gena Rowlands and actor-director John Cassavetes.
