Padres Star Manny Machado Scores Coral Gables Mansion at Huge Discount

San Diego Padres superstar Manny Machado has demonstrated All-Star skills in real estate. The Miami native purchased a posh Coral Gables, FL, property for $11.3 million, about half of the original asking price, the Real Deal reported.

The mansion first came on the market in 2016, with an asking price of $22 million. But without a buyer, the price slowly came down over the years—way down. The home was most recently offered for $13.4 million.

Which must have been enough to entice the infielder, who scooped up the waterfront home for an even lower amount. 

Built in 1994, the custom abode is located in Tahiti Beach, which is an exclusive gated community. The 8,305-square-foot home sits on almost an acre, and offers 121 feet of water frontage. 

With six ensuite bedrooms, and 7.5 bathrooms, it might be hard to choose where to rest your head. Every bedroom comes with picturesque bay and Miami skyline views. 

Covered with floor-to-ceiling windows, the open and airy floor plan includes a kitchen and breakfast nook, a formal dining room, living room, den, and an elevator. With high ceilings and an all-white interior, the home is a perfect showcase for an art collection.

Outside, the backyard oasis includes a pool and lounge area, an outdoor dining space, and a barbecue. Machado should also be researching watercraft, because the home will allow him to float away, with direct access to Biscayne Bay.

At 27, Machado hopes to be part of a rebirth of Padres baseball. As a coveted free agent following the 2018 season, he signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with the Padres, which was the richest deal in North American sports history at the time. A four-time All-Star, he wasn’t able to lift the team out of the NL West basement in 2019.

Chad Carroll of Douglas Elliman represented the seller. Yvette Rivero of Rockway Realty represented the buyer. Both agents declined to comment on the sale.
