The acrimonious breakup of star player Phil Kessel and the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins is real estate official—the winger is selling his mansion in Wexford, PA, for $2.1 million.

After months of rumors of bad blood with management, and trade deals scuttled by the star, Kessel gave his blessing to a fresh start with the Arizona Coyotes, coached by his close friend Rick Tocchet. Headed for the desert, he’s selling the idyllic home he’s owned since 2015, when he paid $1.8 million for the property.

The home Kessel leaves behind is a large, traditional brick home with five bedrooms, 7.5-bathrooms, and nearly 8,000 square feet. Built in 2014, it sits on a private 3 acres in the upscale Copper Creek Community, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. The commute to downtown Pittsburgh is a snappy 15 minutes.

The interiors are chic and traditional, with polished hardwood floors, custom millwork in just about every room, and a sophisticated, muted color palate.

With square footage in abundance, the home has both a billiard-room and Ping-Pong table, in addition to conventional high-end amenities like the 400-bottle climate-controlled wine closet, gourmet kitchen, theater room, workout room, and tons of storage.

The home doesn’t have a pool, but the surrounding acreage offers possibilities for additions and expansions of all sorts.

After four seasons and two back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins, Kessel’s departure is sad for Pens fans. He addressed them directly in an Instagram post just after the announcement.

“I’m gonna miss the fans, the city and my teammates,” Kessel wrote. “Thank you for all your support over the years, I will never forget it!”

As Kessel readies to howl with the Coyotes, his one last loose end in Pittsburgh is this sweetheart suburban house with a prime Penguins pedigree.
